Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic
rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of
clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the
finest grained foliated metamorphic rock. Foliation may not correspond
to the original sedimentary layering, but instead is in planes
perpendicular to the direction of metamorphic compression.[1]
I personally love slate; the effect it has on a room can be stunning. Slate can bring a real elegance to a room, if you have slate in your home then you will know how proud you are to have it on show.
Recently we cleaned a slate floor that I was absolutely stunned by.
Gavin and Nathan did a fantastic job on this slate floor. There was plaster and all sorts of debris on the floor to begin with, but as usual, our technicians are just incredible at their jobs and take such pride in their work that hey presto.
A little word from one of the technicians that did the slate cleaning job in Cambridge “So the process was we vacuumed the area first, protected the edges that needed protecting, applied a special cleaning product to remove the dirt, then using the rotary and we began to clean. We choose the black pad first due to the amount of dried plaster there was on the floor. We then let it soak for a short while and proceeded to clean again this time using a brush. Then extracted using the extrating machine and placed the driers down to dry it for a while. We then applied our sealer to get the finish that you see”
We use a 7-step cleaning process that includes an initial inspection, we protect your walls and furniture and then proceed with the clean as described above by Gavin.
If you have your very own slate floor that you think could do with a bit of TLC then please feel free to give Art of Clean a call in the office on 01223 863632 and we would be more than happy to book you in for a completely free no obligation quote.
